You are exploring options to achieve crisp, clear vision after cataract surgery or to reduce your dependency on glasses, Premium Intraocular Lenses (IOLs) offer innovative solutions designed to meet a wide range of vision needs. Whitson Vision is proud to offer several of the most advanced Premium IOLs available today, including the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) by RxSight Multifocal IOLs, Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) IOLs and Toric IOLs. Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) from RxSight

Customizable Vision After Surgery

RxSight logo

The Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) by RxSight is the first and only intraocular lens that allows vision adjustments after it’s implanted. This groundbreaking technology lets you fine-tune your vision in-office for a level of customization that other lenses simply can’t match. Here’s how it works:

Adjustable Vision

After your surgery, you’ll undergo a series of ultraviolet light treatment sessions that allow for precise adjustments to your vision, based on your personal needs and visual experiences post-surgery.

Enhanced Clarity and Precision

Unlike traditional IOLs, the LAL offers the flexibility to “fine-tune” your prescription after surgery, providing clearer, more customized vision with fewer visual disturbances.

If achieving the most accurate, tailored vision possible is a priority for you, the RxSight Light Adjustable Lens is an option worth considering. This is especially important for anyone who has had prior Radial Keratotomy (RK) od Lasik surgery as obtaining accurate corneal curvature measurements is more difficult (and therefore potentially inaccurate) following these prior corneal procedures. This is why Dr. Whitson will almost always suggest that a LAL IOL is the preferred lens to use in patients who have had prior corneal surgery to allow the best visual outcome for the patient.

Lensar Laser-Guided Surgery

Precision Placement for Optimal Vision

Whitson Vision uses the Lensar laser system to perform two important tasks. First, to break the cataract into tiny pieces that allows easier and safer removal of the cataract  and second, to guide proper placement and alignment of a Toric IOL when treating astigmatism. This is accomplished in two ways:

Customized Laser Precision

Lensar’s femtosecond laser technology maps your eye in detail to ensure that the IOL is placed with pinpoint accuracy, enhancing your results.

Improved Vision Outcomes

By using Lensar’s advanced imaging, surgeons can address astigmatism, manage other refractive issues, and ensure the best possible alignment for your Premium IOL, resulting in superior clarity.

This laser-guided approach allows for enhanced results, particularly when paired with Advanced Technology Intraocular Lenses.

Multifocal Lenses for Near and Far Vision

A multifocal IOL (MF-IOL) is a type of lens designed to deliver clear vision across a wide range of distances. This lens is ideal if you want an option that addresses both near and far vision.

Multifocal IOL

This is a lens that has multiple rings of different power on the lens surface designed to provide both distance and near vision.

Reduced Need for Glasses

Many patients find they can do most daily activities without glasses, thanks to the MF-IOLs ability to balance distance and near vision.

MF-IOLs provide a good option for patients who desire reducing dependency on glasses. Proper patient selection is very important when a MF-IOL is being considered.

Toric IOL: Correcting Astigmatism with Enhanced Vision

A Toric IOL is specifically designed to improve vision for those with astigmatism. This innovative lens not only corrects astigmatism but also provides improved clarity for distance vision compared to standard lenses.

Enhanced Distance Vision

The Toric lens offers sharper distance vision, giving you clearer and more detailed sight.

Astigmatism Correction

By correcting astigmatism, the Toric IOL helps you achieve a more balanced, natural view, reducing or even eliminating the need for glasses.

For patients with astigmatism, this lens offers an effective way to enjoy sharper vision across a variety of distances.

Choosing the Right Premium IOL for Your Lifestyle

Selecting a Premium IOL is a highly personalized decision that depends on your vision goals, daily activities, and unique eye health needs. With options like the Light Adjustable Lens for post-surgical customization, the Multifocal IOL for distance and near vision, the EDOF IOLs for blended distance to near vision, and the Toric for astigmatism, you can choose a lens that best aligns with your lifestyle and aspirations for clearer sight.

Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) IOL

EDOF IOLs are designed to provide a wider range of focus when compared with standard IOLs. This can allow vision that reaches out to the distance while also improving intermediate vision and near vision. It is generally utilized in both eyes to provide an extended range of vision by treating the dominant eye for distance and the non-dominant eye slightly less than perfect distance vision. The non-dominant eye would then provide an improvement in near vision. This is what is called Blended Vision. It is important to distinguish this from standard mono-vision where the two eyes are treated widely and distinctly differently in that one eye is near and the other is distance, but that there is little to no intermediate vision. While Blended Vision sounds odd, the brain adapts to the blended, whole-range of vision quite readily and this is actually the preferred IOL combination in many patients.
