Clinical Research

History of Our Research Center

Dr. Whitson has been involved in conducting investigational studies beginning as far back as medical school. His desire to continue an active presence in creating, finding, or enhancing the state of medical care available to people has driven this goal.

Since starting practice in Indianapolis in 1987 he, and his team of research professionals, have conducted numerous studies and trials. Those trials have resulted in many scientific publications and presentations at medical conferences, as well as a significant number of new pharmaceutical medications that have found their way to common usage as both prescription medications and over-the-counter products.

Whitson Vision Research Center

In 2019 the Michael Washburn Center for Ophthalmic Research, LLC was formally started. It is named in memory of Dr. Whitson’s son Michael who passed in 2018. The center conducts investigational trials that are designed to help improve ocular health, comfort and vision. Our center and team have become integral components of both national and international trials. We strive for excellence in the how, what, and why of the trials that are conducted.

Therefore, we are very selective in the studies and trials in which we choose to participate. The Michael Washburn Center for Ophthalmic Research LLC looks to continue the growth path and excellence that attracts physicians, companies, and prospective study participants to us. We are proud to have this center available here in central Indiana.
